In a home or business there are different cases where an alarm notification system may be necessary. Protecting material goods and, above all, protecting people, are one of the fundamental pillars of today's smart homes.
In a smart home, we can differentiate between two types of alarms: intrusion alarms and technical alarms, which correspond to the detection of fire, smoke or flooding, as well as the monitoring of essential parameters for the correct functioning of the home, such as the detection of the water level in a tank or wind gusts that require protective actions, among others.
Thanks to correctly installed sensors and appropriate programming, the smart home can warn the owner of the home or premises of potentially serious events (fire, smoke, water leaks...) instantly, as well as acting on the lighting, blinds and audio system, causing the house itself to give the alert. Early detection of any dangerous event allows people to react and extinguish the source of the danger as quickly as possible, and more importantly, to have time to leave the home if necessary.
Nowadays, especially when we are away from home, it becomes really important to have a burglary detection system, as this is the most common time for potential intruders to try to break in. The basic components for protection against this type of intrusion are presence detectors and window and door contacts. If unauthorised entry is detected, the smart home can be programmed to deter the burglar. For example, a protocol could be established to call the homeowner warning of the possible intrusion, at the same time as the house flashes the lights, activates the audio at maximum power and raises the blinds to facilitate the intruder's exit, dissuading him from his attack.
Deterrence is one of the most effective techniques to prevent home intrusion. Presence simulators are effective in replicating the usual activity of home users. For example, lights and blinds, in order to deter possible intrusions or squatting when the house is uninhabited.
